About
About me
I am Steve Schols.
I was born in the Antwerp region, in the small but beautiful country of Belgium.
In 2004 I graduated as a Bachelor in Applied Informatics at Karel de Grote university college in Antwerp. I also got a solid economical background in my education.
In 2005 I started working as a Java software engineer for RealDolmen, a large systems integrator and services provider in Belgium. At RealDolmen I received a thorough on-the-job training, further enhancing my knowledge and skills, and preparing me for real-world projects.

About this blog
As a Java developer, I just love the Java language.
I will mainly post about the Java ecospace and the Java language in particular. At the moment I’m not yet into other JVM languages like Groovy or Scala.
I try to mainly concentrate on learning and working with Java EE 5 and 6, but I also have good knowledge of Spring, Hibernate and Struts.
This blog will handle issues I encountered, problems I solved and technology and frameworks I investigated.
Sometimes I’ll explain an issue I resolved or a feature I discovered, backed by some example code.
Language
I’ll post in English, although my native language is Dutch.
Everything I post will be my own opinion and findings. You can always post your comments on my blog.
All statements made here are solely my own and do not represent the opinion of RealDolmen.
